Sorry for the late reply d0us, I haven't been notified for your posts.

The resistor should be connected in parallel on the cable, which means that you would have to hack a cable in order to plug a resistor connecting directly the + and - wires.

Did the pedal guitar do the trick (I'm not an electronic techie neither, so I couldn't guess it ^^) ?
