please oh please make the volume control gesture for the iPad version of the software LESS sensitive on the next update. On my machine I can go from full volume to "0" in about 1/4 of an inch, which is WAY too fast!

It seems to be getting more and more sensitive somehow...

I notice that the more loops stacked on a track, the less sensitive it is - which is good. but trying to control a track with only one loop on it is nearly impossible

I'd like to try re-installing the software in hopes that this might help, but - unless I am mis-understanding - there's no way to save the loops and re-install them back into the iPad (?) so doing this would be a big job of re-recording some foundational material for my show.

thoughts?

thanks!

more on the topic. when I "stack" tracks, the light colored edges on the sine-wave start to appear, which might suggest a hotter signal?

So, I have been trying to understand how to get the original signal to be "hotter"

toward that end, I have turned the limiter "off" and get the hotter signal, and thus more control.

given the set-up I describe above, and the situation I am playing / performing in (live and loud) would your recommendation be that I work with the limiter off?

I guess I don't really understand the purpose and workings of the limiter

thanks!

On the iPad, as on the iPhone, you have to go through 70% of the screen to go from full volume to zero volume. But from what you describe, I think the problem is that your input signal is very very quiet, so going from your track level to the zero level is really quick, but going from your track level to the full level should require a much longer swipe.

The waveform contours are the representation of the track volume, so if you only start to see them after stacking tracks, it confirms the low level of your recordings. I would suggest to leave the limiter activated, it doesn't play a role in the input section.

Maybe you could try raising the preamp level of your inputs on the iO Dock ? There is a little potentiometer on the side of each input connector.

Tell me how it turns out.

with the limiter on or off, the waveform still appears full size on the track

but with the limiter off, I get a stronger signal (as shown by the brighter edges on the waveform).

something about how the limiter is working with the iPad in the i/o dock seems to make the signal very quiet.

I did try turning the input gain up all the way on the Doc - no change.

Anyway, I have been working this morning with the limiter off and things are much better - long swipes and no problems with getting a good signal and balance of volumes.

thanks
