hi!

thank you for this amazing tool. i play electric cello, and i work with loops and my computer since 7 years ago... right now i´m playing in the subway and the streets, where i could not take my laptop with me, so evdy looper helps me making this possible and makes me happy.

this is great!!!!!!

but my experience looping tells me about some important lacks,

+ well, the first and very important one is the capability of overdubbing, to be able to create three or four layered loops on the fly.

but i find very useful the way it works right now too, as you don´t have to stop playing to stop recording, so it would be great to be able to set up each track individually (so tracks 1 & 2 could be standard mode and 3 & 4 overdubbing, for instance).

+ also it would be very very useful to be able to double a loop, so you record a small rhythm pattern and then you make it longer to play over it. it would help a lot (so you don´t have to use the click track, nor pre-record a rhythm your self to follow it). as it is much more easy to be accurate in a two bars loop, than in a eight bars loop.

i´ve read a post about the possibility of using the click track in channel r and the left would be the main one, that would be also great!!! so let´s make it!

a footswich would be great too... but i see it´s quite difficult... let´s wait, some one will handle this some day.

one more thing that would be great is the capability of adding some effects to each track (reverb, reverse and delay...) but i see your app doesn´t go that way, as you want to keep it as simple as possible.

what about the problems with recording bass sounds (cello is very low sometimes). nothing to do regarding to this? my low notes sound without body any at all...

no more to say, just overdubb us as soon as possible please!!!

and many many thanks.

Hi David !

That's great that you use Everyday Looper in the subway and on the streets :D ! That's really a use that I had in mind when designing the looper. In Paris we have a lot of subway musicians and I've thought a lot about expanding their "mobile abilities" when stopping to hear them play. So thanks for your feedback, it's highly valuable for me :) .

Totally agree on that. And that's planned. Right now I'm working on the iPad version of the looper, but soon after that, I will dedicate the next update to recording. So timing-wise, we are quite good ^^.

For overdubbing and still being able to "quantize record" without going back to the menu : You would be able to choose your recording mode - so Replace, as it is right now, or Overdub - and still let the quantization on. Which mean you could get an overdubbed quantized record. So first tap on a track would get the quantization armed as usual. But a second tap on the track would disable quantization and start overdubbed recording right away - which is not the case right now, because the recording still stops at the end of the track. What do you think of this ?

Multiple loop length is planned. Stereo tracks is too, but much more tricky to handle, even if I start to have some clues. And effects will make their way into the app, but only when I will be very happy with the "core features" of the looper.

Regarding your bass sound lacking of body, it's very probably due to your audio interface. What do you use to connect your electric cello to the iPhone ? Sometimes impedance matching problems leads to thin sound.

Thanks again for your feedback :) !

Cheers,

Raphaël

waw. you are really kind and quick in your replies! i´m sure you are a five persons team working full time who signs as "raphäel" ;)

second tap on the track for overdubbing seems so good... so if you have already recorded a quantized track, then by taping it twice i suppose you will be able to record over it (without deleting first recording).

i´m using http://www.peavey.com/ampkitlink/ to plug my cello to the iphone. is there any other better impedance device?

i´ve found this article about impedance
http://groundupaudio.com/iphone-impedance-you/

also this preamp
http://www.thomann.de/es/art_tube_mp.htm --- would it fix the problem? --

and this about all the thing
http://www.easylearn2playguitar.com/rec ... d-or-ipad/

maybe you or someone in your team :) knows any other solution to impedance problem?

i hate ipad!!! (since it takes you apart from working on iphone version).

cheers and thanks a lot for your support.

david

We are actually six. I'm Raphaël number 4, nice to meet you. Raphaël number 3, who had replied to your previous questions, has go to sleep  .

Yes, that's exactly the point !

Regarding impedance, it seems that you have bought one of the best "jack interface" available. It is supposed to handle impedance matching correctly. Then the problem is maybe simply in the frequency response of the jack input : http://blog.faberacoustical.com/2010/iphone/iphone-4-audio-and-frequency-response-limitations/. As you can see, it tends to kill the bass quite high in the spectrum for last gen devices. It's a bit better, but not that much, for older devices.

The "dock interfaces" don't have this problem. But they are not perfect. We discussed them here : http://www.mancingdolecules.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=124.

Cheers :D !

sorry, just one more thing... smooth transition between loop end and start... as sometimes you get clicks if haven´t ended the loop with total silence or have started it with some noise (this will be solved using fantastic overdubbing function!).

best.

i´m twice sorry, we should only thank, but we keep asking for improvements...

what about a visual metronome?. i have one, and use it to avoid metronome sounds while performing. it has got two small lights, so it flashes one each beat alternating (it helps, as just one light is more difficult to follow).

just two small flashing parts in the iphone screen following a given tempo would help as much as a sound clicktrack (as long as you look at the screen). avoiding this way that terrible, if performing, click track.

thanks again.

That's right, I have to work on a start/end recording crossfade too.

Not sure if the visual metronome would allow you to be as precise as a sound metronome however. I'll think about it.

Cheers again ;)

hi again raphael`s team,

i´m so so happy you have released the ipad version... not because i have got an ipad, but because it means that you all must be working in the next update which will include all those wonderful features needed for eydy looper to be a great looper tool.

i also would like comment something: as i work with eydy looper in performance, sometimes (as you are playing music and not only thinking on the looper) that you i two fingers gestures to mute/unmute then sometimes pause accidentally the music... which is really terrible with an audience on the front (even if they are just three people). couldn´t you add an option to activate/deactivate pause on the menu?

thanks a lot!
anyway eydy looper is the greatest looper on the iphone.

Hi again David ^^ !

You should indeed be amongst those who will be very happy with the next update. The whole team is on the edge :D .

What kind of muting do you use, instant or quantized ? For only one track at a time I suppose ? I agree that the mute gesture is a bit tricky and needs concentration.
